Professor of Global Governance at the John W. McCormack Graduate School of Policy and Global Studies, University of Massachusetts Boston

Maria Ivanova is professor of global governance at the John W. McCormack Graduate School of Policy and Global Studies and director of the Center for Governance and Sustainability at the University of Massachusetts Boston, and visiting scholar at the Center for Collective Intelligence at MIT. Her work focuses on the performance of international institutions, implementation of international environmental agreements, and sustainability in organizations. She served on the Scientific Advisory Board of the UN Secretary-General. She is on the Board of UN University’s Institute for Advanced Study of Sustainability and the Global Young Academy. She is an Andrew Carnegie Fellow and Ambassador for the Global Challenges Foundation and chaired the jury for the $5 million New Shape Prize for global governance that the Foundation administered.
