MSCP Scholars Present an International Picture of Sustainability at “Female Faces in Sustainable Places” Photography Exhibition

In conjunction with the “Female Faces in Sustainable Places” photography exhibition at the National Visual Arts Gallery in Kuala Lumpur, on display from October 8 to November 13, 2016, the 2016-2017 MSCP International Visiting Scholars each delivered a presentation on an urban development topic in their home country. 

On October 12, 2016, MSCP Scholars from Indonesia, India, Nigeria and Malaysia presented the following talks:

  • Dr. Alpano Priyandes - “Indonesia: Urban Development Issues in Batam City: Evaluated from the Aspects of Urban Planning, Environmental Management and Public Policy”
  • Dr. Minal Pathak - “India: Sustainable Low Carbon Development: Case of Ahmedabad City”
  • Dr. Felix Olorunfemi -  “Nigeria: Greening the Urban Development and Sustainability Gap in Nigeria: Challenges and Prospects”
  • Dr. Kasturi Devi Kanniah - “Malaysia: Green Cover Change and Sustainability of Malaysian Cities”

On November 10, 2016, MSCP Scholars from Bangladesh, Malaysia, Cambodia, Egypt, and Palestine presented the following talks:

  • Dr. Gulsan Parvin – “Bangladesh: Disaster Risk Reduction, Response and Recovery for Sustainable Community Development: Approach of Microfinance Institution of Bangladesh”
  • Dr. Anizan Isahak – “Malaysia: Flood Disaster Risk Reduction and Community Resilience in Pahang River Basin, Malaysia”
  • Dr. Sok Serey – “Cambodia: Adaptation, Resilience and Sustainable Livelihoods Development in the Lower Mekong Basins (LMB)”
  • Dr. Rasha Sayed – “Egypt: Architectural Vernacular & Cultural Heritage in Egypt”
  • Dr. Wesam Al Madhoun (MSCP Scholar 2015-2016) – “Palestine: Sustainability Challenges in Gaza, Palestine”
